Chicago, IL – Pip Care, a company that optimizes the surgical journey for care teams and patients, announced UChicago Medicine, one of the nation’s leading integrated academic and community health systems, has signed an agreement to use its products. This will be a first-of-its-kind service launched in the Chicago market and shows the commitment of UChicago Medicine to provide superior and compassionate health care to its patients. The first phase of the agreement includes a pilot of the service and will start later this year.
Launched in 2022, Pip Care partners with health systems to offer best-in-class care to patients throughout the surgical journey. “Pip Care is excited to partner with UChicago Medicine. Providing patients with human-centered health coaching and enhanced digital technology throughout their surgical journey creates an optimal environment for preparation and recovery,” said Kathy Kaluhiokalani, co-founder and chief executive officer of Pip Care.
Pip Care improves clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction, without increased staffing or complicated workflows. By streamlining processes for care teams, Pip Care allows teams to move more than 20 patient touch points to Pip Care, saves over 10 hours of front office time per patient, and empowers clinicians to function at the top of their licenses. Patients are paired with a certified health coach for one-on-one support, care navigation and coordination throughout their surgical journey. The high-touch, high-tech platform enables health systems to build personalized programs for patients, leveraging a digital platform to streamline, simplify and optimize all aspects of the surgical journey.
“Surgery is a big deal for the patient. At UChicago Medicine we aim to make every aspect of the experience for the patient and care team better, and partnering with Pip Care enables us to achieve that goal,” said Ross Milner, M.D., chief, Section of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy, co-director, Center for Aortic Diseases, vice chair of perioperative services and clinical affairs.
UChicago Medicine performs over 30,000 surgical procedures per year and is dedicated to bringing the world’s most innovative approaches to patients with all conditions, from common to complex. The service lines for the pilot include obstetrics and gynecology, cancer, vascular surgery, cardiology and neurospine.
“Our physicians join our team because they are passionate about leveraging tools to deliver the most innovative and personalized care and best outcomes possible to our patients. Working with Pip Care aligns with this mission and benefits our patients, health systems and community,” said Jon Brickman, vice president, perioperative and procedural services at UChicago Medicine.
